In this, my second time serving on the PTPA board, I’m excited and honored to be trusted as your 2024 Board President alongside a competent, creative, and committed group of our fellow programmers, including our newest board members, Lisa Tipton, and Betsy Braun.
Since 1991, when TRAC worked with programmers to establish the first PTPA board, the value in developing professional programmers has been goal #1, and that remains to this day. It’s not news to anyone that changing technology and audience behavior continue to be a source of concern in our industry, but rest assured that this board aims to be forward-thinking in ways that allow us to understand our place in this multi-platform landscape while continuing to make our local audience a priority.
My vision for the new year is to thoughtfully consider what it means to be a programmer today, including what tools, skills, and knowledge we need to navigate our changing industry, provide relevant professional development opportunities to meet those needs and continue to foster community and support among our peers.
I’ll wrap this with a sincere thank you to the team at TRAC for their ongoing support of the programming community. And to all our members, I look forward to connecting with as many of you as I can through the year. Thank you for being a member of PTPA.
