Impaglia Programmer of the Year Criteria

The nominee for the Programmer of the Year Award should be a programmer who:

Has developed a program format that had significant impact on his/her community and can be duplicated by other PTV stations.

Whose station had a substantial rise in viewership due to risk in schedule change.

Exhibits thorough knowledge of his/her own market through intelligent additions to the NPS schedule.

Has a record of helping individuals at his/her station and other public television entities reach their professional and/or institution’s goals.

Demonstrates an ability to use audience research to further the goals of the station within its community.

Demonstrates an ability to mobilize station resources to respond to a significant station programming challenge.

Demonstrates an ability to creatively use changes in the media environment to his/her station’s advantage.

THE PROCESS

Nominations can be made by/for any PTPA member.

Nominations should be accompanied by materials which document how the nominee satisfies the criteria. This can include schedules, letters of support from station or system colleagues, and audience data comparisons, for example.

Nominees do not have to satisfy every criteria in order to be nominated, or to receive the award.
